Coranto News Headlines
The Coranto News Headlines feature is designed for timely news bullets to be posted on your program's home page (index.shtml). Coranto compiles a database of news headlines for use across our site, so your headlines appear not only on the program home page but on the main Campus Rec home page and on other related pages. News headlines are dated for expiration and automatically disappear from the site on the assigned date. Headlines can be edited for content, expiration date, and other variables at any time.

To ADD News Items
Click on "Submit News" in Main Menu (upper left) or in the Links Box at Bottom of Page.

1. You may leave the first two boxes blank... Alter Submission Date & Alter Submission Time.

2. Next is the News Valid Until? Box.
Think of this as the DISAPPEAR DATE. The date the message will no longer appear.
Enter the date that you want the message to disappear... aka, the date AFTER the last day you want it to appear.
For example, if you want the message to appear on the web site until and including Sunday, January 21, 2007, you would enter Monday, January 22, 2007.
Enter in traditional MONTH-DAY-YEAR format with two digits month & day and 4 digits for year. In this example, it would be 01-22-2007.

Note that news items are ordered on our web pages by expiration date with the item that will expire the soonest listed first (at the top) and so on down. You can strategically position news items in order by adjusting their expiration date. 01-22-2007 will appear above 01-23-2007 when displaying on your page and so forth.

3. Select a Category from the Drop Down List.
This list includes each program area. Leach messages appear on both the Leach page and the Fitness page.

4. Enter a Subject (Headline).
Something short that captures the main idea. Please capitalize each word but do NOT use ALL CAPS. This will appear in red, bolded font on your page.

5. Type your message in the News Text box.
Two or three sentences will work. Please spell out dates. Use of all caps is discouraged.
You may include a link to another page... to do so you must enter the appropriate HTML code. It's not hard.
Find the address of the page you want to go to. You can surf for it in another browser window and copy the address from the address bar.
For example, the IM Sports Planner is at fsu.campusrec.com/im/sports/planner.shtml
Enter the following around the text you want to make a link.
<a href="http://fsu.campusrec.com/im/sports/planner.shtml">THE TEXT LINK HERE</a>
You need the start <a href=...> and end </a> to complete every link.

The following "code" typed into the News Text box:
Check the <a href="http://fsu.campusrec.com/fitness/geweekday.shtml">group exercise weekday schedule</a> for instructors and times.

Results in the following output on a web page:
Check the group exercise weekday schedule for instructors and times.

6. Finally, click on Submit. A News Saved confirmation page will appear. The news item should appear on your site immediately.
